List of local courses...

There are numerous golf courses in the area. Here are details of a few of them. More information can be found at Mark Massey's web site. He runs Great Golf and Leisure and is worth contacting for more information about courses, bookings  and green fees.

Club de Golf Finca Cortesin

At the back of our development is Finca Cortesin with its 5 * hotel and Jack Niklaus academy. The course is now well established. At almost 7,000 meters from the back tees it is considered one of the longest courses in Europe . The natural environment and landscape of Cortesin are one of it's most attractive features.  Cabell Robinson , course designer, and Herald Huggan, landscaper of international fame, have managed to maintain the local natural character of the area. The blend of Mediterranean forest and manicured fairways and greens is well crafted.

Casares Golf Garden

This new development is a magnificent location on the Costa del Sol at Casares, with some impressive Mediterranean architecture, splendid views of the sea, and the new “Golf Bahía Country Club”.

La Duquesa

Designed by legendary course architect Robert Trent Jones and opened in 1985, La Duquesa's 18 hole course wraps itself around the El Hacho Hill overlooking the picturesque marina of Puerto de la Duquesa and with views of the Costa del Sol, Mediterranean and North Africa.

Doña Julia Golf

5 minutes walk from the front of the development is Doña Julia Golf. Its newest course is in one of the largest new developments on the Coast. Within the development there will be 3 18-hole golf courses and 1 9 hole practice area, luxury hotels, commercial and leisure facilities which include 2 full size football pitches, tennis, squash courts, swimming pools, spas, horse riding center, just to mention a few.

The first golf course is now complete and is now recognized as one of the best. The famous Antonio Garcia Garrido designed this 18-hole par 72 layout designed. It features 18,000 m2 of greens – that's big! Equivalent to St. Andrews two greens in one. 11 of the greens are raised allowing visibility of the Mediterranean sea as a stunning backdrop.

Valderrama

Valderrama is a 6356 metres par 71 with no hole of less than championship quality but it can be fully enjoyed by players of all handicaps, thanks to the genius of Robert Trent Jones, Senior, whom many consider the leading golf architect of his day.

Sotogrande

Sotogrande opened in 1964 and is still voted amongst the top ten courses in Europe. This par 70 course has well established vegetation with pine, cork oaks, eucalyptus and palm trees. Water hazards play an important role here, affecting holes 12, 13 and 14 and 16, 17 and 18.

San Roque

Between Jerez and Marbella, almost at the tip of the Iberian peninsula, lies one of Europe's most exclusive golfing Country Club. Here, in the foothills of the Sierra Bermeja, the peace and natural beauty of Andalucia is complemented by a stylish retreat and an 18-hole championship golf course enhanced by a friendly atmosphere.
